Key holder for the Gonzo's

So in this picture you see the entryway table that Cello and Melona have. One of the things that is missing is a key catcher so that when they get home, they just drop their keys and they are easy to find in the morning.

So I showed Melona a great idea for a key catcher by using a little appetizer dish with three little separate compartments labeled his, hers, yours. So I started searching at the thrift and I didn't quite find the exact same thing.
I did however find this little dish that I thought would work great! So I tried a little modgepodge to add the HIS and HERS to it.. check it out:

It looks HUGE in this picture, but it's not.

See I tossed my keys in there and they fit juuuuuuust right.
My other supplies. So here's the thing. I dont have modgepodge (its a real product!), but I do have Elmer's glue type stuff, so you just dilute it a bit and go with it.

See what I mean?
Then you paint on the words that you want to use. In this example, I am painting on the hers.

Mr. Nosey McNoserton! Pierre the beautiful.

See... Noooooooosey!

Almost finished!!!!! I forgot to take a picture of the 'finished' product, but just picture it almost the same as this picture, except that the white stuff dries clear!

Hasta!

Helping out and having fun!

This past weekend my cousin (Cello) and his wife (Mel) asked us to help them paint their living room and rearrange the furniture to make it look more casual and less bachelorpadish. So with tools in hand we drove the 45 mins drive out to their house and got to work.

Here are the pics of our fabulousness: I was not able to get a before of the room because when we showed up, my cousin had already started moving stuff away from the walls. So here are a few of the somewhat 'befores'
this is the right side of the room as you walk in from the front door
Here is the left side of the room as you walk in from the front door
standing in front of the mantle facing the left side of the room (from when you walk in the front door) I am not sure if you can tell, but this has really high ceilings!! (FABULOUS)

Looking into the kitchen area. YES, that is football playing on the TV... when you have men doing this type of work on a Saturday and Texas (college team) is playing OU, the TV will be on!! It was ok though, they worked and listened (didn't really watch)

The mantle that is absolutely beautiful! Getting taped up and ready to be painted.
My cousin on a really HIGH ladder doing the edges near the ceiling. You can see here that he is balancing himself really well.
Me, painting around the fireplace.
Hubs getting his paint on the roller - he was a rockstar with the extension pole and roller. He was getting everything painted soo quickly!!
Hubs helping Cello catch his footing on the ladder.
Mel feeling skippidy doo da over the new caramelly creammy color that now covers her once yellow post it walls!!! Their BEAUTIFUL coffee table that was the WRONG color for our transformation. Mel did NOT like this coffee table and I assured her that once we sanded and painted it, that it would look FABULOUS! So she let me transform it.
Sofa table that I scored the night before at an auction that I absolutely loved and knew that it would look good in their entry way. The color was wrong and didn't match the coffee table or entertainment center, so we sanded and painted this sucker as well.
Tada!!!!! newly painted table!! Looking good!!
******* AND NOW - LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!!! THE ROOM REVEAL!!!! *******
Tada!!! We still have little tweaks here and there, but look at the new room and delicious color scheme going on here!!!
This is what you see when you walk into the room from the front door. Look at the coffee table. Such dark richness and it matches the entertainment console that they got. (don't mind hubby that was falling asleep from all the work!) This is the only picture I have of the crisp white mantle that we totally hooked up! Right above the mantle you see that there are some great pictures and a nice clock. As well you can see that there is an empty frame. (you know I have a love of bare frames) The frame will house a monogram type vinyl piece that Mel will be ordering. It's gonna look cooolio!
The start of the new focal point in the living room! Mel's Cross Wall. This will be a wall filled with Crosses and pictures of friends and family. (excuse the ladder and my shoulder)
I think this sums up the way Cello felt of us being finished! He was all over this work being done! btw.. do you see that lamp in the corner - LOVE IT. Though Mel didn't feel the love for the lamp. It has such a cool lamp shade and went really well with the room.
Still feeling it, my cousin gives us the rock on pose. Looking at the corner of the room from the mantle.
The new sofa entryway table that we painted to match the coffee table and entertainment console. Looking good. Still missing the mirror (which we had, but ran out of spray paint to match it to the rest of the stuff) that goes above the entry table. As well as a small basket for key drop and a basket underneath for shoe catch.
All in all it was a very productive Saturday and we really paid for it Sunday!! We were sooo tired that we were falling asleep at my grandparents house after church.

No Picture Post

So this post comes to you today in a way that hasn't before - with NO pictures.
The reason for this post is that I am a pretty busy these past couple of weeks and I have not had time to fix up my house (or craftroom!!) or take pictures or go thrifting or anything fun like that.

I just wanted to take the time to update that I will be back in full swing this weekend!! Woohooooooo! I have a lot to do to get ready for the Holidays, Birthdays AND I am helping my cousin fix up her house too!! sidenote: I love hanging out with my cousin and his wife!

Anyway, just wanted to let you bloggy friends know that all is well at the Faz Chronicles and that I will have some great blogging updates this weekend!

Let there be LIGHT!!!

Yay!!! So we now have a new light fixture (well new to us)in the kitchen!! Remember back to this post where I wrote about our lighting dilemma in the kitchen?? Well yesterday our very own electrician hooked us up with our new lighting in the kitchen. Along with putting up our new lighting on the outside of the garage!!!
Check it!:
Woohoooooo!!! Loving it! I love the moulding around it. Just looks great! I think we need to head out to HD and get a different plastic made that isn't so frosted. That way the light shines through a little better.

YAY!!! :)
Sorry about the dark picture (I took it this morning before heading out to the Dentist). I wanted to show what light fixtures we had up outside before we got the new ones put up. They were HUGE, UGLY and BRASS! No bueno. (and did not have very much light!)
Enter newer, smaller, brighter, lovely light!! This is PERFECT for now. It is simply lovely and they were not expensive at all. TWO pluses. We will eventually change them out for something bigger, but for now - JUST RIGHT!
UPDATE on the craft room front:
No progress in the last two days (and probably no progress tonight either). I know I have told you in the past that the hubs and I are in the worship band at church, so we have practice on Thursday nights and then we have service tonight and then service on Sunday. Needless to say we are a busy pair of folks, but we will get something done this weekend!! I know it!
Hasta!
