We got a GREAT deal on a flight to Colorado, awesome discount on a rental car and hookup on a condo that we could not pass up in SteamBoat Springs.... it was PERFECT and we totally relaxed and just had an awesome time - except for the snow part.

Quick story:
So the hubs and I land in Denver at around 3 pm and after all the lugagge hoopla go straight to the car rental place to pick up our awesome discount jeep cherokee with 4wd. We get on the road at about 430 or so and start on our 2 1/2 hr drive to Steamboat Springs, CO. As we are driving along, we decide to stop in a little town about 1 and 1/2 hour away from SBS to pick up some snacks/food for our stay in the hookup on a condo that we could not pass up. As we walk to the awesome discount on a rental car we notice that it is starting to snow (also to mention that it is already about 630 and starting to get a little dark out). I decide to drive the rest of the way. As we continue down the road the snow started to come down a little harder and faster - so my driving became longer and slower. Driving on the side of mountains in the dark with snow, not a good thing. So I ended up driving about 3mph for about 3 hrs... no bueno. Not having driven in snow before, I totally had no idea what to do (neither did the hubs) so at one point when I couldnt see anything I turned on the high beams (BAD IDEA) and quickly turned them off. Praying to the Lord above for some kind of miracle, out of nowhere came a snow plow! I followed him for about 20 minutes and then he turned into the darkness.... it was not a good idea. We stopped a couple of times to let the snow do its thing, but decided the longer we waited, the more snow on the ground. In the end, what should have taken 2 and 1/2 hrs, actually took us about 5. That's quite alright in my book because we made it to the hookup on a condo that we could not pass up. ahhhhhh... memories........
During the other years we have taken random "vacations" - like in 2008, we took a week off after we bought our new house to do random stuff house (that was our 'vacation' for that year). In 2009, we ended up taking a week off to just vedge at home as well as go to Louisiana for a few days. Not exactly what I would call VACATION... Actually those are called STAYCATIONS.
Which brings me to 2010 - We talked about different vacations that we could do - New York, Las Vegas, San Antonio, etc.... All were either a) too expensive b) too far or c) too expensive. Well SanAntonio was not that bad, but we would drive and well, we just want to get there right away and vacation, so it was kind of not worth it. I brought up the idea of going on a cruise (something that we have talked about A LOT but never put into action) and the idea was tossed around. When I talked about it in front of some of our good friends, they stated that they had also wanted to go on a cruise (they are cruisers already, but we have never been). So our friends called their cruise guy and from one day to the next - it was ON!!!!
So we are totally going on a cruise!!! YAY!!! It's our first one and we leave on March 25 coming back on March 29!

We somehow got a room right next to our friends AND just happened to mention to our grandparents that we were going on a cruise so they joined along (they are on a different deck as they booked a couple weeks after us)
We are going to have such a great time and can't wait!!! 41 days and counting!
Hasta!
Adri.
