This weekend...

This weekend is FULL o'stuff to do...
1) Garage Sale (gs) at my aunt's house
2) Hopefully picking up LOLA today from the dealer.
3) Finishing up the craft room - possibly turning it into something else??? We'll see.....
4) Finishing up the projects in the garage.
5) Grocery Shopping/CVS'ing somewhere in there.
6) Church tonight and Sunday.

You see.. plenty of stuff to make the weekend seem NON-Existent... ugh..

In any case, I can't wait for Aug to be over!!! (it hasn't even started yet, HA!) because Tomas and I will be going on vacay in Sept! We originally had it all planned out to go to LV to see the sights and catch some shows - but it looks like based on our car needs, we may just go closer to home (SanAntonio to be exact). For this I am looking for deals that will get us a great hotel room as well as some food coups... Maybe even a day at Sea World ?

So yeah.. that's how it's going right now! Praise God that he has given us the time to get these things done! :)

Lola is out of commision.

The hubby and I have been a one car family for quite some time now - 7mth (8 on the 1st of Aug) and so it comes to no surprise that our Lola (my car) would need some time off to get some things updated/taken care of - so we had to take Lola to the shop. Hubby's car (the one that we lost in a car accident where we were hit and it was totaled) was named Lalo. Cute huh?

Anyway... we dropped Lola off this morning and got the call that she would need to stay overnight and that we would be most likely be able to pick her up tomorrow afternoon - Woohoo!!! ...

In case you don't know what Lola looks like - here she is...

So while Lola is in the shop, I am channeling my inner soccer mom and driving around this bad boy! A minivan! Woohoo!!!

So far.. it's pretty cool... I feel like I am missing a kid or two - but hey... that's ok. we can do without... but check out our green lawn!! woohoo.. way to go hubby! :)

I thought you said you would have pictures?

Well the weekend was great! EXHAUSTING, but great!! We had a nice time on the road trip and unfortunately I am NO BUENO because I only got 3 pictures.... ALL WEEKEND! ahhhhh!
Anyway... I will share what I have, but other than that - I have nothing to write about. Actually I do, but let me show you the pics. Keep in mind that my sister the camera hogger took these pics and therefore they are not that great. HA HA - j/k - well not really - check for yourself!

*ahem, at least we got Sonic to tie us over in the rush of working!*
Seriously - these pictures do not do the whole work justice! Seriously it was tough! We had about 15 big Home Depot contractor trash bags - It was a lot and they weighed a lot and we even had to use a dolly to carry them to the dumpster! LOL...

Then it was my beautiful cousin Cheeto's 18th birthday and we totally got together at my grandparent's house to do a pool party for her. It was soo much fun to hang out - I think I have a concussion from all the water volleyball type games that we played (the ball kept hitting me in the face! ha!)

Anyway - so this week I have big plans for 2 rooms in the house. The craft room and the office. I don't know if you remember this post? Well I already did some progress on it and never posted about it. The only thing is that it is NOT complete and I am in search of some furniture to make it more functional. It just hasn't happened yet. So while I am on the search I will continue to work on organizing it. I am also gonna work on the craft room. I am not sure that I have showed it to you just yet, so that will be new to you.

Stay Tuned.

ROADTRIP!!!!

All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye...
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when Ill be back again...
I know you remember that song from Armageddon???
So BGonzo, ADawid and I are taking a small road trip to Horseshoe Bay, TX! It's about 3 hrs from Houston and about 30 mins from San Antonio. My dad actually bought a vacay condo there and so we are going to 'clean' it up!

The old owners of the condo, sold it furnished (as in, they didn't come back to get their stuff!) so we are going up there to sift through at the furnishing to see what will stay and what will go.

I am so excited to go because we have not spent time away, just the three of us. So anyway, the plan is to drive out tonight after Bgonzo gets off work. Once we get there, I will give them the tour and then we will get settled to get some sleep. Tomorrow morning we will get up, grab some bfast and then get to work. Our objective is to get rid of anything that is not vacay appropriate (oh and JUNK)! We want the place to feel like a vacation home should feel - the old owners left a bunch of personal stuff that we just don't want (or need). Once we are done with that, we go get dinner (and sbux of course) and come back to the condo to watch ADawid's wedding dvd!!! I can't wait to see how it came out!!! :) We will stay the night on Friday and then Sat afternoon head back home. It's gonna be so nice to get away with my two favorite girls and just hang out.
I will be sure to take a bunch of before and after pics (of the condo and of us! ha!!)

Phew! Got a bunch done...

So this past weekend we really kicked it up a notch! We had an outreach where we passed out cold bottles of water through out a neighborhood where you could tell people needed it. I was also able to knock out some projects that had been waiting for my TLC. I started and ALMOST finished the nightstand that I bought for $10 at a thriftstore. I started and almost finished the candelier that I am making to hang above the bathtub. I started and finished (but it needs to be hung) redoing the $7 garage sale kitchen light fixture. Anyway... enough talking - here are the pics.

At one point we were able to pray over a man named Roberto after we had given him some water. It was wonderful!!!
After spending those hours in the sun, reaching out to those in need of fresh cold water - I just couldn't sit back. I had too much energy and decided that I wanted to get to those projects I listed above. Here is one - remember this beauty that I got for $10?? Well, I knew it was perfect for the guest bedroom and could serve as a bedside table. PERFECT I tell you! So here it is before. (you can't tell, but the top drawer was falling apart and I had to secure it back together.)

TADA!!!!! The hubby and I had gone to Home Depot to get some stuff for the candelier and I ended up picking up a can o paint from the oops pile and it was only $5 - when I bought the paint I didn't know what I would use it for, though I knew I couldn't pass it up. When I started working on this piece (sanding) I remembered that I had the can and I went to town! It looks kind of yellowish, but its more creaminess - it's actually quite awesome that it matched the bed frame so well!! I scored!!

I still have yet to decide what pulls I will use, but I will try to match the other dresser (the one that came with the bedroom set) - though I did spray the original ones a dark espresso brown which might work? I also have yet to pull it together with accessories...so I will get to that this week!! :)
*****************************
Another project that I am working on is the candelier that I want to hang above the master tub (garden tub). I got the chandelier for free at a thriftstore and was more than happy to see what I could use it for. The first thing I did was clean it (with a damp cloth) and let it dry before working on it. Once it's ready for me, I started by taking out all of the electrical components (I won't need them as it's going to become a candelier). So here are the pictures of what I did:

So I just repeated this for each leg of the chandelier and then I figured out that without that piece in the middle of each leg (where the candle will go) it will fall apart. So I have to go to HD and get some nuts to keep it together - so project halted! I will update with candelier part two later! :(
I am really proud of myself for getting a good number of projects done!! Feels good!!! :)

My 100th post. What next?

Ok... so this year has proven to be a year of what's next? When Hubby and I were thinking about 2009 back in Dec of 2008 - we said that our theme would be 2009 Is Our Time To Shine! Little did we know that we would be going through soooooo much........

1) We had a pretty narly car accident where we were hit from behind at a stoplight on JANUARY 1 (coming home from our PASTOR'S house no less) where we lost hubby's car (it was totaled) AND we had to have physical therapy for almost 4 months. We are still working on getting this resolved through our lawyer and the other person's insurance company - more on that when it is finally resolved.

2) Our church found a home! Our church Ministerio Zoe Vida finally found a place to grow and is doing well.

3) We celebrated 3 yrs of marriage!!
4) We celebrated our first year of home ownership!!!

5) My younger sister got married. TheBride was beautiful!

6) I started being more creative (and adventurous) with crafts, decorating, and thrifting. For example last week I got this

I decided to actually use it in the dining room. I am going to sand it and fix it up (make it a little more sturdy) and then I will do a mistreatment on the bottom part so that it's not open and I can hide a few things in there and just king of make it a buffet for the dining room. This is actually the first item that I have ever just picked up off the side of the road! It was scary and fun all at the same time! Scary because the guy that used to own it came out as we were loading it into the car and I thought he was gonna get mad at us - but he actually asked if I wanted the screws that go with it! HA!

or what about this?

We went to my FAVORITE thrift store and they had a sign out on their patio that said "everything in the patio is free, take whatever you want" so I grabbed this beauty! I am going to remove all the electrical, sand it and spray paint it - then add some candle sticks and hang it above our bathtub in the master - HOW romantic will that be????

*****************

All in all - we are in the middle of the year and it can only get better from here on out. We have a lot to look forward to and I am excited for all the things the Lord has in store for us. I can only give thanks that He has given me a wonderful hubby to ride along this roller coaster! :)
