The story of our closets - part 1

Ok... so this weekend I had the idea/plan to tackle our closet remodel/organization and because this really was a big overtaking... I am going to do it in three parts. The part 1 will be the befores of my closet. Part 2 will be the befores of the hubbs closet and then then part 3 will be the afters of both!
So here we go...PART 1 - I made a little sketch so you could get the right idea on what the closet looks like. You will soon find out (when you see part 2) that the hubbs has way more clothes and therefore takes the bigger closet... I know I know.. it's usually the other way around - but not at our house. I am not really into clothes much, but purses - that's another issue!

Ok.. so here you have it. It's just a little rectangle with a bar on each side (which right now on the left is my shirts/blouses and the left is my pants/jeans) and a built in of cubbies. In the cubbies now I have my undies/bras, socks, tshirts/shorts and jewelry. Basically it needs HELP!

The pictures below were taken with the hubs iphone... so they are not the best quality! :(

Look at this jumbled mess!!!!!

The left is my shirts/blouses or tops - however you call them.

right is all my jeans/pants
right side floor is where my shoes should be - but instead it's a mess!
bottom of cubby area - MESS!!!!!!!
left side floor of the closet - oh goodness gracious!
So my plans for this closet are:
1) hang all on the same colored hanger - as well as in color coordination for easy finding.
2) get a small dresser or nightstand to house all my tshirts/shorts under the shirt side of the closet
3) use the cubbies more efficiently and get some cute baskets to house my undies/bras and jewelry
4) organize my shoes once and for all.
Stay tuned for the part 2 where I will show you pics of the hubbs closet... brace yourselves!!!
Hasta!

All Talk and no action....

Our home has taken a back seat to our work, church, commitments, and sleep... Oh and laziness.... yeah.. that too!

So in the past (in AUGUST!) on this blog you might remember that I spoke about cleaning/organizing my closet. Yeah.. you might guess that it didn't happen... nope. I am still living in a disaster zone! :(
So I am going to take my time this weekend and really do it. Really be alll ACTION and NO talk!
In the bible it says in Galations 6:4-5
4Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5for each one should carry his own load.
I have several things I want to accomplish this weekend and I will post a recap about them on Sunday night.
Here is what I NEED to accomplish this weekend:

(this is NOT my closet.... but could pass for it)

1) Friday night, take everything out of the closet and sort to see what stays and what goes

2) Measure for new rods that need to go in for better organization. Right now in my closet, I only have two rods - one on the left and one on the right. I want to have one on the left (for shirts/blouses & dresses) and two on the right for pants/skirts. In the hubs closet, it's the same and we need to fix that so that he has one on the left (shirts/sweaters) and two on the right (this man has about a thousand pair of pants!)

3) Work Sat morning

4) Go to the Hardware store to purchase stuff for the rods and lift shelves up and move rods up a bit to fit the clothes properly.

5) Put everything that stays back in the closet as well as organize any cubbies or drawers (we don't have a dresser in our bedroom - all clothes are in the closets)

6) Organize the coat closet. I did this once before and it's back to wild and crazy!

7) Organize/clean my craft room and it's closet

(not really what it looks like... but quite close!)

and last but not least - the thing that has consumed my every last nerve!
8) Organize/clean our office.

The thing is, I desperately want to get a dresser for each the office and the craft room, but have not found any in our price range (read:FREE - LOL or close to it). I feel like if I can organize the office and craft room using a dresser it would look so pretty (and out of the way!). I want the closets to be clean of clutter! We have a 4 bedroom house.....that is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much space and I feel like our house is bursting at the seams AND THERE ARE ONLY 2 OF US LIVING THERE!!!!!!!!!!! Why the FRANK do we have soooo much stuff... I just dont get it.

How beautiful does that look??? That's what I want it to look like in our office!!

and another thing - is anyone else scared of their attic? I mean, we have NOTHING stored in the attic. I just can't bring myself to put anything up there. I HATE going up there and I am always scared that I am going to get startled by something. It's the weirdest thing and I have yet to get over it.

(not a real picture of our attic, but come on... scaaaaaaaarrrryyyyy)

Anyway... I think it's time that we took ACTION!
There you have it!

Hasta!

Health and Honesty

So this past week I have been feeling really under the weather. So much so that on Friday night, my husband got so worried that he took me to the ER. It was totally DUMB as sometimes I feel like an idiot for making my husband worry - but atleast they said I wasn't dying.

Anyway. Even though I know it was probably allergy related as the weather has been WONDERFUL but filled with guk, I have finally come to the epiphany that I really need to lose weight. Like NOW. Here's the thing. I have never really been self concious or whatever you call it, about my weight - but seriously... it's time!
So the hubs and I are going to clean out our kitchen - completely - and get rid of 98% of the junk that is invading our health. Why 98%? Well cause every now and then you need a little something. So we are going to work on that this weekend and really start a fresh.

We have a treadmill and a weight bench (with free weights) along with medicine balls/bands that we will be using. We are going to re-do our little exercise room and get it in gear so that we can start our Biggest Loser journey. (ok.. so our exercise area doesn't really look like this, but I will take a pic and show you later)

I believe that I want to lose atleast 60 lbs by our fifth anniversay (March 4,2011) which is about 5 months away. I mean if I am being honest here, I really need to lose weigh (way) more than that, but I have to start with a solid number.

We are going to walk after work everyday. Eat healthier (more portion controlled) meals and then work out in the mornings (UGH!!!!). Right now if you tried to wake me up early, you would probably get punched in the face! I am not a morning person, but I know that it probably has to do with the fact that I am overweight. If I was not overweight, then I would probably wake up singing Good Morning, Good Morning!!!!!

So enough of the big talk and no action. It's TIME!

Right On!

Friends...

In life you have women that are family, acquaintances, friends and best friends. I pride myself in having the greatest people around me. Folks that love me, encourage me, keep me accountable and just plain know how to have fun!
Some of those people have come and gone in my life - like we just fell out of touch for no reason and that's ok, because I do believe that some people are in your life for a season.
Recently my friendships have changed quite a bit and I like where they are going.
I'll give some examples.
1) My sister. She is the best ever.

look at those beautiful green eyes... yep.. I didn't get them...

Here we are at her wedding. I was her MOH.

There are so many times were we will bicker about something (dumb no less) and then I desperately need help with something (ie: one of my bff's weddings) and she is front/center! She recently came to work with me at the company that I work for. She is in a different "arm" of HR but we are one cube apart. She NEVER forgets about me at work and really quite truly takes care of me more than I could ever imagine. Recently we celebrated her bday and at our office... I kind of made myself in charge of bday celebrations and we totally decorated her cube! ... check it!

It really was quite awesome!

Example #2: about two-three years ago I came back in contact with my old bff in high school. Lsoliz. She is wonderful! She is funny, sweet, beautiful and really a great friend in my life. She asked me to be her MOH (matron of honor) in her recent wedding and she was WONDERFUL to 'work' for. Not a bridezilla in anyway! I truly enjoy her friendship because she keeps me on my toes in the weight loss department and I like that!

See what I mean.. there's my sister, front and center doing Lsoliz hair for her wedding!

Lsoliz and her girls... btw. her wedding was just a few days ago on 10.10.10There's my sis again... LOVE HER!

3) JMorg... I met her in 2002 and it has been quite a roller coaster for both of us. We have been on good terms, GREAT terms.. bad terms... no terms.. and back to GREAT terms. We really are opposites that attract in that she LOVES to shop and I DONT! lol... truly fun and really, how many friends will take a picture of a stranger's haircut for you when you say how much you like it and want to cut your hair the exact same way?(exhibit a)

The hair cut! lol

Here we are at the Bridal Extravaganza (yup, you guessed it.. I'm her MOH! lol)

At a women's conference.

and there she is in the pink, helping out with the entrance of Lsoliz.

4) Melly Mell! I met Melly Mel at work almost 3 years ago and we have become fast friends. She is soooo sweet and makes me laugh all time. She is also someone that keeps me accountable spiritually. I am actually visiting her church for the first time this week... I am excited!!! Also, we recently went to a conference (the same conference as JMorg) and had a nice time there as well.

no paparazzi... please... thanks... (yes, she is eating healthy.. thanks Mell..... )

always down for a good time! weeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Enough with the pictures (can you see her sticking out her tongue??) lols!

#5 Big Momma and her hubs the Guido!!!! I met Holly and her hubby just a little less than a year ago and it feels like I have known them forever! I mean, how can you not feel like that when you meet her. She and her hubs make you feel like family! Seriously. AND my grandma (and mom) absolutely love them as well. My Grandma actually said that she loved meeting Holly and felt like she had gained more grandchildren (by meeting Holly and her husband). I am so excited to have them in my life and am especially happy because Holly just found out that she is pregnant (and quite possibly with multiples!)

I have so many more... such as my mom, gma, aunts and other friends that I have made along the way, but if I truly had to pick some friends for everyday wear... these would be them!
Love them much!!

Hasta!

So this blog....

You know... these past couple months have been full of stuff that I could mumble on and on about - but I won't. Why you ask, because I should have been taking you along with me as I was doing the stuff.

IDK why I have been a blog slacker... but I just have felt like I don't have much to say lately. Though in effect I do.

I know that in the past I have talked about the hubs and I being involved at church and such - but really I haven't spoken about my FAITH. I read quite a few (actually a lot) of blogs out there in blog land, that are AWESOME and really share their Faith and use their blog as a place to share it. I have decided that I want to do that. I want to share how my faith is evolving and what a prominent place the Lord has in my (our) life!

I also want to get back to blogging like I used to. Back to the blogging place where I didn't care if I had 1 or 10 ppl reading my blog. I want to use this blog to chronicle our lives and have a place to come back to.

So... get ready cause here we go.

Hasta!
Adri.
