Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!!!

So this past weekend was Valentine's Day (February 14th) and our church had come up with a great idea to have a Dia de Amor Y Amistad - meaning Day of Friendship and Love - so I volunteered our house to host the shindig and it was GREAT!

I followed this blogger's post idea for decor and hung it on the mantle area of our house (as well as in the powder bath). I also found some doily hearts and taped them wherever I felt they would look good. I bought a HUGE lasagna at our Sam's Club along with a three loaf pound cake (yum) to eat with coffee. Almost everyone brought over some yummy food to chow down with and we had about 25 ppl over (couples as well as singles) We ate and then played a couple of games.

One of the games we played was our version of the Newlywed Game!! Well our wonderful game show how "Vero Tribeck" did an awesome job of hosting the game. The first round was Pastor/wife, Osman/Consuelo, hubby/myself. Off we go... the hubbies were to answer the questions out loud while the wives wrote on the dry erase boards. Right off the bat, hubby and i lose the first two! what the?!?! Come on hubby, you can do it! So from then on we started getting right answers - all in all out of 3 couples, we came in second! woohoo!! - Then we had the singles get up there with their family members - the first pair was mother/daughter, the second was also mother/daughter and then the third was actually sister/sister. All in all it was great fun!!!

After that game we took a small break to drink some yummy coffee as well as eat some dessert (which I still have leftovers at my house!!! aaaaahhhh not good for the diet!) anyway.. when we were done with that, we decided to play pictionary - we divided the room into two teams and went from there.. of course my team won by 1 point!!! This was good times!!! After that, it was time to depart. All fun was had and it was the perfect Valentine's celebration!

So that was Saturday. Sunday, bgonzo and I got up early (ugh) to meet up with my grandparents to see about having their 50th wedding anniversary at a beautiful restaurant in the Galleria area. They loved it and I think are definitely going to go with it. They want to see one more place, but I think they are already sold. Once we were done with that, it was time to eat, so bgonzo and I headed over to Cafe Express to grab some grub. It was nice to go out with her just the two of us and really talk about how she felt spiritually. She is really starting to seek the Lord for guidance and such. I pray that she is moving in the right direction.

After that we headed over to David's Bridal where we were able to try on/order our bm dresses. We are really excited because this is for my sister's wedding and it's gonna be a big shindig!!

So we got that done and then went home where I got ready for church. We had a great message at church and it was awesome to see how things are moving in our midst. Cool stuff!!

That's all for now!

Hasta!
Adri
